7 Months Old

Mason is 7 months old today! It's hard to believe that it's already been 7 months. The time is certainly flying by. No stats this month. The kid loves some food. So far we have been very blessed that he will eat anything you put in front of him. We love watching him learn new things each day. He certainly is the highlight of our days.

These monthly pictures are getting harder and harder to take. Here are just a few of the outtakes from our little session...

And because I know Jen likes these...

Happy 7 Months Mase!! We love you so much!

It might be time...

It just might be time to put the bumper pads in the crib. This is the sight we have woken up to over the last few weeks.

Sometimes I wish we had a video monitor so I could see just how he manages to get himself in these positions.

Mason will be 7 months Thursday. Is it too early for bumper pads? Thoughts? Do you use bumper pads in your babies crib?

Dear Mother Nature,

We are over this cold, rainy weather.
Please please please bring back our spring like temperatures and our beloved sunny days. We sure do miss days like this...

Of course Sophie had to come along for the ride
And who wouldn't want to go on a walk when this cutie is your walkin' partner..
And we miss our afternoons of playing outside in the yard waiting on daddy to come home from work...

Really mom? Enough with the camera...
So please please please bring back the warm weather. We beg you!!!

March Race - St. Leo's 5k

Spring has sprung, the flowers are blooming, the grass is green, running shoes are laced, and allergies are in full force.

This basically sums up the March version of our 12 in 12 challenge. Last Saturday was a perfect day for running through the beautiful Buena Vista neighborhoods as part of the 16th annual St. Leo’s 5K. Lynsey has set an additional personal challenge to beat her previous time at each race. She held true to this goal by besting her time from last month’s race by nearly 2 minutes.

In case you are wondering what allergies have to do with this, Lynsey’s brother Zach and his wife Taylor usually race with us, but both were up all night the evening before with a nasty combination of sinuses and allergies. So we hope to get our running partners back in time for the April edition.

Also, Mason decided to forgo this race and spend the morning with Grammy. Clearly, he made the smartest choice.

Three down, nine to go!

M&M

We are very lucky to have a neighbor whose daughter is about 10 days older than Mason. Since the weather has been nice, we have been getting together often for walks and playdates. Mason and McKinley have so much fun together and it is nice for the mommies to have some social interaction as well.

Mason has become smitten with McKinley and I can see why.. she sure is purty! I can tell we will need to keep an eye on him as he grows up. He is such a ladies man!

Already holding hands..

I can tell he was going in for a kiss... or perhaps to eat her arm.

Mason and McKinley

I know I am biased but these two sure are cuties! We can't wait for more playdates with McKinley! I have a feeling McKinley will be making more apperances on the blog.

Happy Birthday Jessica & Jennifer!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TWO OF MY BEST FRIENDS!!!

It’s hard to believe that we met as high school freshmen and have been best friends ever since. I can’t remember what my life was like before you two befriended me in high school. We have been through ups and downs and survived many of times together. I couldn’t think of two better friends that are more like my sisters to celebrate on this day.

Jessica: Although distance separates us we are always together in spirit. Each time we get together we pick up right where we left off. The east coast certainly misses you but I know you are having the time of your life on the west coast and I couldn’t be happier for you. I am so proud of all that you have accomplished these last few years. You are a fighter. You are stronger than you realize. Thank you for your many years of friendship and for always being there for me!

Jennifer: Who would have thought a few years ago that you and I would be going through first time parenthood together? What a blessing you have been to me and to Mason. I don’t know what I would do without our daily texts, phone calls, your words of support, your advice and suggestions and everything else. How awesome is it that Mason and Reagan will be close in age like you and I. I can only hope they grow up to be such wonderful friends like you and I as well. I’m one lucky gal to have a friend like you to help me survive this crazy thing called being a parent! I am so glad to finally have you back in NC, even if it is short lived. Thank you for your many years of friendship and for always being there for me!

Happy Birthday to two of my best friends! I wish I was there to celebrate with each of you. Miss you and love you both like crazy! I hope you have the wonderful and fabulous birthday you both deserve!

Happy Friday!

The weatherman reported an expected high today of 80!! Now, this is my kind of weather. Hopefully Mason and I will spend the majority of the day outside, just like we did this past weekend. Our kid loves being outside and we love it too! Just a few pictures from how we spent part of the day Sunday....

I asked Mason to look up at for a moment and this was the expression he gave me...
Oh how I love him!!

Mason loves his shark sunglasses. We are most impressed that he keeps them on and doesn't try to eat them or anything.
Our cool kid.

We hope you have a happy Friday and a wonderful weekend that is filled with gorgeous weather! So happy Spring is starting to arrive.

Wordless Wednesday: First Shoes

What I like to call... his old man shoes. And rocking the white socks with them... just like an old man.

Balloon Wreath

I am sure you have seen these around blog land before. The Balloon Wreath. I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them. They are a perfect way to customize any special occasion and they are a wonderful way to greet your guest at the door. They are so fun! I decided to take a stab at making one for Colleen's baby shower last month. The color theme was grey/orange/yellow.

The wreath went from this...

to this...

to the finished product.

I forgot to tie a nice ribbon on it to hang it and remember half way to the shower so I had to make the best of  what I had. I worked here and there on the wreath for 2 days and really enjoyed making it. I can't wait to make one for Mason's first birthday!

Oh one side note: I used A TON of balloons to make it really full looking.

You can find a complete tutorial here.

Have you made a balloon wreath before? Or perhaps a ribbon wreath?

Cirque du Soleil

Imagine a man doing headstand on a pole 25 feet in the air while the pole is balanced on the forehead of another man walking on a balance beam.  Sound unrealistic.  We thought so to before attending the Cirque du Soleil show in Charlotte a couple weeks ago.  This is just one example of the many feats of acrobatic and artistic excellence that we saw at this show.  We were joined by Traci and Robert for an afternoon meal and a great show.  This was a great belated Christmas gift and great to see our family.
If the show is coming to your area, we highly recommend it. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and with each act, we were completely blown away. I just wish we had taken pictures!
