Christmas Day - Christmas #3 and #4

Christmas morning was the best yet. Even though Mason is only 3 months old, we had a blast seeing Christmas through his eyes and remembering what it felt like to be a little kid again. We also are so happy to have started some traditions of our own: a yummy breakfast, matching pjs, reading The Christmas Story and the list goes on. I am a sucker for traditions.

After we finished Christmas at our house we did a little work around the house and then headed back to my parents to open our stockings there and spend the remainder of Christmas with them. Nan, Papaw, Zach  and Taylor were also there and it was so nice to spend more time with everyone. The weather prevented other family members to make it this year but hopefully next year everyone will be back together!

This was the sight we saw on Christmas!!! My babys first christmas was a white one! It was the first white christmas our area has seen in 17 years!!!

The perfect ending to the perfect Christmas.. a family photo to remember Masons first Christmas by.

With Christmas 1-4 complete, we still have one more to attend. Next Sunday we will travel to see my moms side of the family and celebrate Christmas with them.

Christmas Eve - Christmas #2

It's a family tradition to attend the Christmas Eve Lovefeast service at Home Moravian. I was so excited to take Mason this year as this service really kicks off our Christmas. This is a service I have attended since I was a little girl.  It is a wonderful reminder about what Christmas is all about.

After the service, we went back to my parents house to do our gift exchange with them, my brother and sister-in-law and my grandparents. We exchanged them on Christmas Eve so that we could do our first Christmas with Mason at our house on Christmas morning. Like Brian's parents, my parents were over generous and we can't thank them enough.

My dad got me a tripod for our camera and I was thrilled. I can't wait to use it. We received so many nice gifts as did Mason and had a wonderful Christmas Eve with my family. Around 9:00pm (much later than Masons bedtime) we headed home to get some rest before Santa arrived. And that was Christmas #2.

Christmas #1

This year we had Brian's family visiting the weekend before Christmas and we decided to have our Christmas with them that weekend. It was nice to break things up and not try and cram so much into one or two days.

Brian's parent came into town on Friday so they could keep Mason while Brian and I went to the University of Tennessee vs. UNC Charlotte game in Charlotte. We met some of Brian's friends there and we had a blast even though UT lost.

The Edwards Family, Brian and Billy.. UT friends.

Saturday evening we hosted a dinner for them followed by our gift exchanged. Like always, Brian's parents were very generous to us and we can not thank them enough. They got me the whole Willow Tree Nativity set, a Pandora charm, the le creuset pans I wanted and a few other wonderful gifts. Brian received a new Band saw, clothes and a bunch of other nice gifts. Traci and Robert gifted Mason 704 baby wipes, burp cloths and a superman sleeper. Unfortunately Robert wasn't able to make it so Traci read him the gifts over the phone. We missed you Robert.

Doris always has the neatest packing ideas for our gifts. Last year it was baskets, this year it was cute bags.

We had a wonderful Christmas with Brian's family and can't wait to see them again. And that was Christmas #1!

Our Stockings

This year we had a new stocking to add to our collections.. Masons! Our stockings are from Pottery Barn so I ordered Mason the mini version of ours. I found the pups stockings two years ago at Home Goods and I love that they match our stockings in color.

I just love how all our stockings look together when hanging on the ladder Brian made for them!

Do you and your family have matching stockings?

Visit to Raleigh

On our way home from Oak Island, we made a pit-stop at Colleen and Keith's beautiful new house in Raleigh for a short visit. Jessica was in town for a work conference and the Goodales also came up to Raleigh so it was so nice to have the fabulous four back together again. Colleen, Jessica, Jennifer and I aren't able to get together nearly as often as we like so we were grateful for the time we were able to spend together catching up.

Mom, Mason and I weren't able to stay the evening as Brian had arrived home from San Diego the day before and we were ready to get home and see him again after a week apart. But it was great to finally see the Belwards beautiful home and to see Jessica, our west coaster. Hopefully the four of us can get together again in the near future!

Merry Christmas

From our family to yours..

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.  -Luke 2:9-11

We wish you a very Merry Christmas!

12 Days of Christmas

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!!! I wanted to share something that Lyndsey posted on her blog. I loved it so much that I wanted to share it with you. It is a wonderful reminder what Christmas is all about. It's not about the money, the presents, the cookies (although they are delicious!) or the decorations.. it's about Jesus!

I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did and Thank you again Lyndsey for posting this!

On the 1st day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
A Partridge in a Pear Tree.

The partridge in a pear tree is Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, whose birthday we celebrate on December 25, the first day of Christmas. In the song, Christ is symbolically presented as a mother partridge that feigns injury to decoy predators from her helpless nestlings, recalling the expression of Christ's sadness over the fate of Jerusalem: "Jerusalem! Jerusalem! How often would I have sheltered you under my wings, as a hen does her chicks, but you would not have it so . . . ." (Luke 13:34)

On the 2nd day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Two Turtle Doves

The Old and New Testaments, which together bear witness to God's self-revelation in history and the creation of a people to tell the Story of God to the world.

The first Five Books of the Old Testament, known as the Torah or the Pentateuch: 1) Genesis, 2) Exodus, 3) Leviticus, 4) Numbers, and 5) Deuteronomy, which gives the history of humanity's sinful failure and God's response of grace in the creation of a people to be a light to the world.

On the 6th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Six Geese A-laying

The six days of creation that confesses God as Creator and Sustainer of the world (Genesis 1).

On the 9th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

Oak Island

As I mentioned in the last post, we headed to Oak Island from Jacksonville. The trip gave us a chance to check on the beach house as well as drop off all the hardwood floors that Brian, my dad and brother will be installing over MLK Jr. holiday. I can't wait to show the before and afters on this project.

It was so cold at the beach so Mason didn't get to see the ocean but we still had a nice relaxing time. We shopped, ate some delicious food and just hung out. We thoroughly enjoyed out time away from the city.

Mainly Mason enjoyed catching up on his sleep....

Stay tuned for the third leg of our trip...
