Mr. Bob

I mentioned that my parents surprised us with our BOB stroller. I am pretty sure I squealed like a small child on Christmas morning when I opened the package. I have read and heard so many wonderful things about this stroller that it was certainly on the MUST have list for Baby M. I took the quiz on their website and found out the Revolution was the best fit for our lifestyle. After debating about the color, we decided on the Navy one and we couldn't be more pleased with our choice.

On Sunday, I went over to my parents house to help my mom with some things around the house. When I came back I was greeted to a beautiful fully assembled stroller, thanks to my wonderful husband. I did laugh when I noticed one of my childhood baby dolls strapped into it. Brian said he wanted to make sure this harness wasn't as hard to use as O'Malley's harness. I got a good laugh out of it. Deacon and O'Malley are still warming up to the idea of the stroller but we are confident they will come around. Especially when they realize that stroller = walks!

Without further ado... meet MR. BOB!

The best thing is we will be purchasing the infant seat attachment so we can use it from Day 1 for Baby M until much later when we are actually able to jog with the little man.

Dash Game

Brian had won two tickets to the hospital suite at the new BB&T Stadium for the Winston Salem Dash (formerly Warthogs) minor league baseball team. Since we hadn't had a chance to check out the new stadium, we thought this would be a great chance to do so. The game happened to be the evening of my baby shower, so we invited some friends along with us. I gave Traci (Brian's sister) my ticket for the suite and I was able to get lawn tickets for Jess, Sean, Jen and myself. Thankfully with Brian's tickets, we also scored a wonderful parking pass. This was a wonderful sight for two pregnant girls! However, the lawn seats were not comfortable. The "lawn" was a steep hill... we ended up walking around for most of the game and just enjoying the new stadium. The food was reasonably priced.. which was a big bonus! All in all, we had a good time and The Dash won 11-4 over the Lynchburg Hillcats. I did tell Brian that next time we went.. seat tickets were a must!

Baby M's First Shower

My sister-in-law, Taylor, and my close friend, Dawn, hosted a baby shower on Saturday for Baby M and I at my parents house. Close friends and family were in attendance and I was overwhelmed by the love these sweet ladies gave to Baby M and I. We had enough food to feed an entire neighborhood and delicious desserts from Dewey's and made by Taylor. Jennifer surprised me with a beautiful diaper cake! That girl is so creative!!!! We received so many wonderful gifts and so many cute clothes. Baby M will certainly be one stylin' boy! My parents surprised us with our BOB stroller! Brian made an appearance towards the end of the shower to see all the gifts, thank everyone and load up the car to transport everything home. We are certainly blessed with such wonderful and loving friends and family.

Jennifer's Baby Shower

This past weekend, my mom and I traveled to Woodbridge, VA for Jennifer's Baby shower. Dear friends of the Goodales', Barbara and Amanda, hosted the lovely shower and they really outdid themselves. From the little booties made from Styrofoam cups with pink bows to the beautiful centerpieces and the delicious food, everything was perfect. Baby Bingo was played while Jennifer opened her gifts and it was a really fun game. Everyone was beyond generous to Jennifer and Baby Goodale. This little girl is going to be one of the best dressed babies around... which I know Baby M will love! Mom and I had a wonderful time meeting friends and family of Jennifer's in laws and catching up with those that we already knew. Even though J is deployed, he surprised Jennifer and Baby G with a a beautiful cross-stitched prayer that has been passed down in his family and his mom had it framed for him. He wrote a precious note to his little girl... there wasn't a dry eye in the room! What a wonderful dad-to-be!
The Fabulous Four: Yes... I'm only 24 weeks and my face is already puffy.. awesome!

Jennifer and Baby G were certainly showered with lots of love. I can't wait for this little girl to make her arrival!

Happy Mother's Day!

We have been blessed with the most amazing mothers. They are nothing short of supportive, caring and loving. This is a special Mothers Day for us as we will soon become parents ourselves so we wanted to take this time to thank our mothers for shaping the persons we have become. Without them, we would not be who we are.

From Brian to his mom:

Dear Mom,
Almost 30 years ago you became a Mother. Although I was born a couple days before Father’s Day, I have always been a Momma’s boy. From wearing your red cleats to the bank as a toddler, to doing our flash cards while waiting on the school bus, to long afternoons playing H-O-R-S-E in the backyard, I could not have asked for a more giving, supportive, and loving mother. Now as I am about to embark on a parenting journey of my own, I have the best role model anyone could ask for. So if I am half the parent that you are to me, then I know that our son will turn out just fine. Happy Mother’s Day.
Bub

From Lynsey to her mom:

Mama P,
I'm not even sure where to begin. You have always been my best friend. You have always been the one I turn to first for advice. On this mothers day, as I am a new mom-to-be, the special bond we share as only grown. You have always been a mom to not only Zach and I but to all my friends, who love you so dearly. Thank you for supporting me even when my decisions were questionable, thank you for allowing me to grow into the individual I am today, thank you for being my "therapists" when I needed one but most of all, thank you for loving me unconditionally. I can only hope that I am half the mom to Baby M that you have been to me. And if I am, I will be doing okay. Happy Mother's Day to a wonderful mom and my best friend.
Love, Lu Lu
And Happy Mother's Day to my Nan. One of the strongest and sweetest ladies I have been blessed to have in my life! We love you, Nan!
Happy Mother's Day to all the Grandmothers, Moms and Mom-to-Be's out there!
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows,
and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

The Baby Cradle

When my brother was born back in 1977, my papaw built a cradle for him that he gave as a gift to my parents. Later in 1980, my mom would rock me in the cradle and Zach would stand by and just watch me. My parents always talked about how much they loved that cradle because 1- it was built with love and 2- it was a lifesaver to them as we would always fall asleep in it. This cradle is still at my parents house for when Zach and Taylor have their first born, as it will be passed down to them.
With the expected arrival of Baby M and my husband loving all things involving woodworking, he decided to trace the pattern of this cradle and build a replica for our baby boy. However, first he decided to surprise Jennifer and Baby G with a cradle. He spent several nights after work downstairs in his little workshop and produced this beauty.... Jennifer was absolutely shocked and thrilled when we presented it to her. She couldn't believe it. We are so happy that she loved it and we can't wait for Jason to get home from being deployed to see it and his baby girl!
For our cradle, Brian wanted to use walnut as he knows I love dark wood. Luckily my papaw had a bunch of walnut at his house so the two of them spent an entire afternoon one Saturday stripping and planing the wood. Two weeks later, he brought Baby M's cradle upstairs for me to see and my jaw dropped. It was gorgeous and even more beautiful than I envisioned. We used a changing pad as the mattress and it works perfect! Just need to get a cover for it. The time, energy and love that went into the building of Baby M's cradle is what means the most to me. This is something we will always cherish. Thank you babe for building this for Baby M. I am so blessed and I love you so much!
