Organic or Not?

Recently I stumbled across Erica's blog and found this very informative post she did about organic vs. non-organic food. I thought I would share it with you guys...

"I just read an interesting article with recommendations on which to buy organic, and which foods are mostly safe to buy regularly. The article says that, "You can lower pesticide exposure by nearly 90% when you avoid the 12 most contaminated fruits and vegetables." Here it is if you're interested!"

The "dirty" dozen (higher in pesticides, recommends that you buy these organic):
1. peaches
2. apples
3. bell peppers
4. celery
5. nectarines
6. strawberries
7. cherries
8. kale
9. lettuce
10. grapes
11. carrots
12. pears

The "clean" 15 (lowest in pesticides):
1. onions
2. avocados
3. sweet corn
4. pineapple
5. mango's
6. asparagus
7. sweet peas
8. kiwi
9. cabbage
10. egg plant
11. papaya
12. watermelon
13. broccoli
14. tomatoes
15. sweet potatoes

With the price of organic procedure generally being more expensive, it is nice to know which ones you gain the most benefit from and save a little money in the process. We plan to plant a garden next year. Talk about yummy homegrown procedure! Do you buy/eat all organic? Was this list helpful? Also, if you are interested, be sure to check out Sara Snow. Her website is chalked full of information. And she even has a blog.
